We have Sandhill Cranes here too - - - which are their "cousins" I believe, but the Great Blue, though slightly smaller than old Sandy, is much more stately.
Oh my god, this is really strange! I took a picture of this same bird in same pose in london zoo. Got told he isn't part of the zoo but makes his way over from Regents Park (where he actually belongs) when its the penguins feeding time lol. I'll tweet it and share it with you. Claire Louise. Ps... Thank you for the Silent Sunday comment yesterday, and that lovely chocolate treat you shared... so not helping me with my "Davina for Next" healthy living plan lol
Herons are great to photograph. I see some everyday on my walk - and am amazed at how they stand still for hours. Or so it seems. I love the reflection!

ReplyDeleteBOOKISH SHADOWS
Darksome shadows in my path,
You are not the Grapes of Wrath;
And yet when I hear your hums,
Something Wicked This Way Comes!
May your darkness turn to light
Like The House of Mirth, all right?
May all sadness drift away—
