What we thought of the Light Strike:

Over the years we have stayed away from gun toys so I was initially a bit wary of trying these.

However I thought I would go in with an open mind to see how the children reacted to them.

I opened the parcel and was very impressed with the build quality design and accessories.I felt sure the children would be impressed with them too.

When my 8 year old son arrived home from school he was very excited to try them out.I told him he had to wait till I could get to buy batteries as like all toy's they are not included.

They do need lots batteries 4 AA in the guns and 3AAA in the strike targets and I would say for anyone who is considering buying these to invest in a battery charger.

Being impatient like his dad he wanted to get started straight away so he went on a mission taking out all batteries from his and his sisters toy's but still a few to short,so he still had to wait....

When we got the batteries he tried the guns around the house, but there wasn't really enough room to play to get the full effect from them.

So off to the garden we went, and there was plenty of room to move, run and jump around and more space for the targets to be placed.

I would definitely say they are more suited to outdoors, unless you have a massive house.

He quickly slipped into some apropiate clothing as seen below and we played and played.

To start the gun up once the batteries are in just move the power switch to on and press your finger print on the scanner to activate your assault striker.

This is just a feature that gives it a personal touch as it doesn't matter who's finger print activates the gun then your ready to start firing.

With your gun you get a strike target that you can clip onto your friends clothes or place somewhere for target practice.

It then beeps when you have hit the target, you can then restart.

Along with his elder brothers and sister they played a few games aiming for points for a hit, first to 10 points wins. You can easily make up a few different games.

They also arranged the targets and did a timed run who could do the quickest around a course.

When my husband is off he is planning to take them up to the woods to play on a larger scale, as he has always fancied paint balling but without the paint.

I personally think he's played too much Call of Duty!! One thing I have not mentioned so far is the SOUND of the guns and targets is really top class with flashing lights. The sounds really add to the atmosphere, although if they do go into the woods they will have to be careful not to scare anyone!!

Other Good feature on the gun are-
  • If you don't use it for 10 minutes it goes into standby mode so not to waste batteries it will wake up if blasted by another Assult Striker or if the button is pressed.
  • If you don't use it after 20 minutes it will further power down so it will save your battieries if you forget to turn it off.
  • Same above for the strike target too.
  • Headphone Jack on gun and strike target so not having to hear them playing all the time.

The accessories are great add ons whether you want to take out multiple enemies with one shot, have rapid fire with provides major blasts, know where your enemies are or double your range to ensure you hit your mark...

The guns have made the kids do lots of running around outside and my 14 year old has enjoyed running around shooting targets with his 8 year old brother.

My little girl has enjoyed taking part in running around and target practising too. This is getting them fit whilst enjoying play and finding the enemies. These guns are great to play and look good in the dark too with all the different lights they look great....

To conclude I feel they are a nice toy for anyone this Xmas, and used correctly will promote lots of healthy activity, anything that gets them away from the TV is a good thing.

Talking to the children after a few days of playing with them, I believe they recognise that these are toys and have not behaved anymore aggressively after using them. I am very pleased with this!!
