Desire Mini Chopper Review...

Last week I was kindly asked if I would like to try out and review a Russell Hobbs Desire Mini Chopper kitchen appliances.

A new kitchen appliance? In time for Christmas to make fun coleslaws and dips for party time? Yes please!!

I was delighted to receive this mini chopper as I had noticed them in the shops a few weeks ago and thought how great they looked for making breakfast smoothies, dips and chopping up salads. After all my quest is to start eating more fruit and vegetables!

I could not wait to get started. Grr you can guarantee no fruit in the house when you want some!

After reading all about the different things you can chop up in a mini processor the possibilities sounded very exciting. Great for smoothing down soups, chopping vegetables up for hummus and dips, making fun condiments like apple sauce, slicing up salads to make coleslaw also my favourite .... blitzing up fruit to make smoothies and milkshakes.

First thing first my favourite milkshakes

Banana milkshake:

Serves 1 or 2 small glasses for children

Ingredients:
  • 1 Large Banana
  • 150ml Skimmed milk

Method:
  • Chop the banana and place with the milk in processor and mix for 30 second.
  • Check to see if it is OK or needs another blitz.
  • Enjoy.

Strawberries and blueberries:

Serves 2 or 4 small glasses for children

Ingredients:
  • 125g Blueberries
  • 225g Strawberries
  • 200ml Skimmed milk

Method:
  • Wash the fruit.
  • Top the strawberries and slice in half.
  • Place all the fruit in the processor with the milk and mix for 30 second.
  • Check to see if it is OK or needs another blitz.
  • Enjoy.

My thoughts on the Mini chopper:

I am really impressed with this food processor it looks very smart on the kitchen cupboards and is really easy and straight forward to use.

I wanted something smaller than my huge smoothie maker which is too large and heavy. Something small, quick and effortless to use and easy to clean afterwards. This is perfect for what I need it for and I can use it daily to makes really fun smoothies and milkshakes in minutes.

To set up the mini chopper simply place you blade inside the glass bowl (you may have to turn it slightly to fit), put your food inside then place the processing lid on. Once you are ready to process your food, place the motor unit on into the middle of the lid. This also may have to be twisted to sit properly.

( I wondered why it only sits on top and does not lock the blade in. Then realised it was for safety reasons, love this idea!! )

Plug in and press the button. (Best to remember not to keep the button held in for longer than a minute at  time so not to burn the motor out, I do think up to 30 seconds blitz at a time is plenty).

Yeah my milkshakes were ready in seconds.

I think it is a really good processor for the price £24.99 but at the minute I noticed they are on offer at £19.99 14/12/2013 on the Russell Hobbs website.

Its not too heavy to move around, which is a plus for me, I have a little favourite spot in the kitchen where I make everything from buns, cups of tea to dinners, so no room for everything. I wanted one to and make yummy smoothies in no time and it does the job perfectly. Easy to clean is the next big tick for me.

Also comes with a storage lid to save your food in. Good idea for when I am short on time and want to prepare some things in advance.

It has a very powerful blitz and chopped my fruit up great. I am really looking forward to making soup and coleslaw next, oh and dips cannot forget the dips!!

This is going to be very handy for helping me get my 5 a day fruit and vegetables after my Christmas binge. I will need a easy way to get the extra vitamins in for my London Marathon training.

About this post-
I got sent a Mini Chopper for the purpose of this review. I was not paid for this post and all thoughts are my own honest opinion.
