Yeah, Summer is just around the corner and as the weather has been nice over the weekend it is time to unpack my Summer clothes, buy some new bits and pack my Winter clothes away!!
I have been really good lately in letting old things go and deciding exactly what new things I need to buy lately, but I still have a lot to sort out. I am a bit of collecter and I need to start making more room everywhere, not just in my wardrobe.
I have bagged lots of old, unwanted and unused clothes up for the charity shops as it is no good keeping these things any longer.
Today I am sharing my 10 Tips To Get Your Wardrobe Ready For Summer:
1.) Pack Away Your Winter Clothes:
Pack all your Winter jumpers away. Well, not all. Keep a few light weight and light colours favourite ones out.
2.) Unpack Your Summer Clothes.
Unpack your Summer clothes from storage, try them on to see if they still fit and if you still want to keep them. The ones you still love, on a nice day give them a quick wash and iron to freshen then up.
3.) Add Some Nice and Cheerful Summer Colours:
Fold some of your darker colours clothes away to the back of your wardrobe and pop all your nice and feel good coloured clothes on a coat hanger where you can see them straight away.
4.) Have A Clear Out:
Sort out a bag or two for the charity shop. If they are things that you do not want to chuck away try selling them. Are some of your clothes ripped, broken zips, or a button missing? Stains on them? First up think if you can mend it or paid to get it mended. Would it be worth it? Was it expensive or just a few pounds? Will you get around to having it mended or mending it yourself? Pop these clothes that can be saved somewhere you will see them, so you can mend them and pop them back into your wardrobe. Outsight, out of mind!
5.) Try Them On:
Do they still fit you!? Try them on make sure things still fit. It is no good having a wardrobe full of things that do not fit you is it? Does it fit nicely, is it too snug, or far too big? Again think about the ones that may be too tight or too big and clear out things that are no longer any good to you. Pop your favourite bits to the back of your wardrobe or into storage.
6.) Have You Worn It Lately?
When was the last time you wore it? Years and years ago? A few weeks ago? Have you worn it in the 6-12 months? If not are you going to wear it again? Decisions, decisions. Ask yourself, will I wear it again? Then decide where it goes.
7.) Does It Make You Feel Confident?
Does it make you feel confident? Some clothes really do bring out your confidence, some clothes don't. Is it too tight or too big, too short or too long? A flattering cut to make you feel good or hangs on you all wrong. Keep the ones that bring out your feel good vibes. Decide what to do with the others.
8.) Will You Wear It Again Soon?
Will you be wearing it again soon? Maybe over the next few months? Yes -keep. Maybe - store away. No -Charity shop, give away to a friend of family member, try to sell.
9.) How Many Different Outfit Does This Go With?
Try to mix and match things in your wardrobe. Think of all the other different ways you could wear that pretty dress, a plain skirt, your favourite trousers, a bright shirt or fancy t-shirt so you can start to wear them more.
10.) Is It Still Fashionable?
Is it still stylish? Is it in fashion? Still look sweet? vintage? Retro or just feels old fashioned. Would you buy it again now? Yes, keep. No, you decided.
Also one I need to avoid so I don't look like I am trying to be young again, would my daughter wear it!?
What do you think?
I am off to Spring clean my wardrobe again!! and clear out some more bags of old clothes for the charity shop. Now that mini me is nearly the same size, I don't have to let my new, unwore, to small dresses go too far away.
