Staying In Or Going Out On Valentine's Day?

Love is in the air so that must mean one thing; Valentine's Day is just around the corner. 💑🎕

Are you a fan of Valentine's day?

Do you like to go out somewhere special on Valentine's day? Or do you prefer to stay indoors to cook a nice romantic meal in the comfort of your own home? Or maybe you just treat it like any other day?

Festive Lights have recently ran a survey of 500 adults in the UK and asked them "Would you rather stay in or go out this Valentine's Day?"

The results have revealed that 63% of people surveyed would prefer to stay in. You can read all about it here: 63 % Of People Prefer To Stay In And Cook On Valentine's Day.

If I had taken part in the survey I would have said: home sweet home for us too! 💗

10 tips on a romantic and cosy Valentines day meal at home:
  1. Write down your meal ideas in advance, so you can draft your menu. Have at least 2 ideas for each course planned.(Just in case you cannot source all the items.)
  2. Shop for your ingredients a couple or so days before, finalising your menu plans.
  3. Try and make some of your menu up the day before, storing in larder or fridge. Especially if you know time may be limited on the day. (Dogs, Kids, Wine distractions etc!) How sweet is this Valentines Day Cake?
  4. Keep your tableware colours nice and plain. It will soon brighten up with all your food, drinks and accessories. Less is more as they say. I love these Whit plates from Ikea.
  5. Make sure to leave plenty of room for all your food. Less is more goes out the window where food is concerned!!
  6. Add a nice big bunch of flowers to the middle of your table. Red or pink. A dozen roses would look perfect. (If your reading Hubby ;-)
  7. Bright main lights off (once all the cooking is done) add a selection of candles or tea lights.
  8. Make your room look nice and cosy. Bringing that romantic restaurant to your home. Nice soft lighting. A Love sign maybe?  Or something different like these adorable rose fairy lights     (pictured below.)
  9. Have some romantic music playing in the background. (Musical tastes may vary!!)
  10. Most of all have fun and enjoy!!!

Candles and fairy lights are a great addition. How sweet are these light up roses?

Or say it with words with these awesome LOVE lights.

Festive Lights have some beautiful lights for all occasions. They have a beautiful selection of not only indoor lights but outside lighting too. Perfect for any event.

They are also proud to host one of the largest selections of cinematic light boxes on the web, with both mains and battery powered options available. I adore these light boxes. I keep seeing them on my Instagram feed and keep wanting to treat myself.

We always like to make Valentine's day special for us. With four children and a dog, we always stay at home. Our typical Valentine's night would be: making tea for the kids extra early then send them off to bed. Then I like to do all the cooking as I pick the menu and want it cooking right!! No food poisoning (that's a story for another day!! Eh Hubby!!!)

Just the 2 of us. Perfect. Although we usually get a visit from the kids or dog, seeing what we are eating. Looking for leftovers.

This is a commissioned post but as always, all thoughts are my own.
