Decorate Your Home For Winter...

Happy Wednesday.

It is so cold outside today. I had to go into town and then walked home in the cold and sleet. Brr! I hate being cold. I think snow is on its way again!

Today I have a fun post to share with you on how to Decorate your home for Winter.

#EscapeForWinter

When it comes to the cold winter nights, there is nothing better than coming home from work, putting on your comfy clothes and watching your favourite series on television. Even better if your home is decorated to replicate your very own perfect winter escape.

If you feel your home is lacking in those winter essentials, here are some hints and tips on keeping cosy when it’s cold, from some of the worlds coldest destinations. Transform your home into your perfect winter escape.

Create Warmth With Colours:

Like the Yurts in Mongolia, use colours and patterns to add depth and character to your interiors. Traditional winter colours include red, orange and purple. The Mongolian Yurt uses such colours to create an oriental look which helps give the impression of warmth and cosiness in even the coldest of countries.

Add Layers Using Rugs, Blankets And Cushions:

Like many colder countries, home interiors are vital to keep warm in the cooler climate. The Mongolia, Yurt and the North American, Craftsman make use of accessories to ensure they keep warm during the gruelling winter months. Using a combination of rugs, blankets, throws and cushions in your home will not only create a warm environment, it will also help to spruce up any room without the hassle of redecorating. Use natural materials to add depth and character:

A firm favourite among homes in colder countries is the addition of natural materials to the interior and exterior. The North American, Craftsman and the Chalet’s in Switzerland are made up of natural materials, wood and stone, made to fit in with their environments. Both use woods within the interiors to help create depth and warmth. The addition of natural woods is fast becoming a popular theme in many homes, you can utilise this material by incorporating wooden furniture or statement pieces to your home.

Stock up on your home comfort favourites:

The evening trip to the gym maybe how most like to spend the first few months of the winter, however, winter is the perfect time to stock up on comfort foods and enjoy a hot chocolate by the fire.

Add the ultimate Winter accessory:

When you think of winter, most think of sitting next to a roaring fire. If you want to create the ultimate winter setting in your home consider adding a fire or the increasingly popular wood burner. Not only will this help to keep you warm during the cold winter nights, it’s an accessory you can enjoy for years to come.
